About the Lake George Region: Glen Lake
Located south of Lake George Village in the Town of Queensbury NY, Glen Lake is a beautiful two-mile long freshwater lake, surrounded by the Adirondack Mountains and dotted with vacation rentals, year-round homes and two restaurants. A popular spot for boating, fishing and paddling, Glen Lake is relatively uncrowded and calm, but close to the many activities and attractions in the Lake George Region.
Recreation
Boating and paddling are among the top recreational activities on Glen Lake. Although the lake does not offer a public beach, many of the lakeside homes and vacation rentals have private beaches, and there’s a public canoe and kayak launch (no motorized boats or swimming) on the west side of the lake at 290 Glen Lake Road. Just a half-mile south of the canoe and kayak launch, bicyclists can access the Warren County Bikeway for a scenic ride into Lake George Village or south to Glens Falls, and Glen Lake is only a few miles from Six Flags Great Escape amusement park.
Fishing
Glen Lake is stocked annually by the Warren County Fish Hatchery and is open to all anglers. Fish species include brown bullhead, chain pickerel, largemouth and smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, walleye and yellow perch. The lake is ideal for canoe and kayak fishing, but is also a popular ice fishing spot. NYSDEC regulations apply.
Dining on Glen Lake
The Docksider Restaurant & Bar is located on the west side of the lake, directly on the water at 298 Glen Lake Road. Enjoy family-friendly lunch and dinner on the covered deck in spring, summer and fall, or dine inside beside the fireplace all winter long. A mile up the road, you’ll find the Full Moon Bar & Grill. This local’s favorite features a saloon-style atmosphere with homestyle food, daily specials and happy hour.
Fine Dining
Bolton Landing is home to the historic Sagamore Resort, featuring eight exceptional restaurants on a secluded 70-acre private island accessible by bridge. Reserve a table at The Club Grille, a New York-Style steakhouse overlooking the golf course, or savor the Italian delicacies at La Bella Vita. For fine dining on the mainland, Chateau on the Lake offers a five-star experience and French-inspired cuisine, seafood, organic meats, and lamb in a restored 1800s private home on the shores of Lake George. This upscale waterfront restaurant was even featured on the Food Network.
