About the Area: Lake George, NY
Lake George, NY, is the original vacation destination, attracting rich and famous travelers as early as the mid-1860s and continuing to welcome couples and families to the region today. Lake George is the perfect place for a luxury vacation, from its upscale lodging and fine dining to boat cruises and family-friendly activities.
Lake George Beaches
Known as the “Queen of American Lakes,” Lake George offers clear, pristine waters, sandy beaches, and breathtaking views of the surrounding Adirondack mountains. Shepard Park Beach, located in the heart of Lake George Village, has a large swimming area and hosts concerts in the bandstand throughout the summer. Million Dollar Beach, the largest public beach in Lake George, offers paid parking and a boat launch, while Usher Park Beach includes a picnic area and tennis courts. There’s even a beach for dogs, located on Beach Road between Million Dollar Beach and the steamboat docks.
Restaurants & Shopping
While Lake George Village is a quintessential vacation town – dotted with souvenir shops, restaurants, bars, live music, and designer outlet shopping – outside the Village, guests can still experience the quiet luxury of a bygone era. Delight in the sophisticated Adirondack cuisine at Bistro LeRoux, just a short drive south of Lake George Village, or one of our favorites, The Ridge Terrace Restaurant, where you’ll be treated like a family member. For a truly unique experience, travel by boat to The Boathouse restaurant, offering private docks for lunch and dinner guests.
Activities & Recreation
Whether you’re seeking family-friendly activities, outdoor recreation, or quiet relaxation, you’ll find it all in Lake George. Rent a boat, hire a private charter, or set sail on one of the sightseeing cruises. Play a round of golf at Top of the World Golf Resort or a competitive game of putt-putt at one of the many mini golf courses in the Village. Experience parasailing, spend the day riding the coasters and floating down the lazy river at Six Flags Great Escape fun park, or go for a walk, bike or run on the Warren County Bikeway.
Lake George Events
Lake George is busiest in the summer, but the Village hosts a variety of activities and events all year long, including the Americade motorcycle rally every June, the Adirondack Wine & Food Festival, Jazz at the Lake, Adirondack Nationals Car Show in September, and Lake George Winter Carnival and Ice Castles in February. There are also free concerts, craft fairs, boat shows, fireworks, and other events throughout the weekends in July and August.
Luxury Vacation Rentals in Lake George
A 10-mile stretch of land between Lake George and Bolton Landing is known as Millionaires’ Row, named for the ornate mansions constructed there and the wealthy travelers they attracted after the Civil War. Many of those mansions remain today, as does the desire for luxury accommodations in the Lake George Region.
