Lake George Area Playgrounds

playground

Lake George is a family-friendly vacation destination with fun for all ages and kid-friendly activities around every corner. In addition to the mini golf courses, arcades, amusement parks and beaches in the area, the Lake George Region also features a handful of playgrounds to keep the kids entertained.

Pappy’s Playground

This unique nature-themed play area in Charles R. Wood Park features canoes to climb in, a musical element, a cave crawl, an embankment slide, an elevated log walk, a boulder labyrinth, and more. Signage notes age recommendations for each activity, as well as educational information about local wildlife. Public restrooms are close by.

Usher Park

A favorite among locals and visitors alike, Usher Park has a playground for the kids and a picnic area with grills, as well as a shallow beach with lifeguards. There are also tennis and basketball courts, and a parking lot and restrooms. Usher Park is located north of Million Dollar Beach on Route 9L, across from George’s restaurant.

Shepard Park

In addition to the large outdoor amphitheater, sandy beach, swimming area and bathroom facilities, Shepard Park has a small playground for the little ones. With a single slide and a couple of swings, it’s not a destination playground, but if you’ve got young children, it’s a nice place to stop for some playtime in the heart of Lake George Village.

Freedom Park at Hovey Pond

Located south of Lake George in the Town of Queensbury, this fenced-in playground has a cushioned ground surface with a rock wall, monkey bars, a coil climber, activity panels, musical instruments and a variety of slides and swings, including bucket baby swings, belt swings, and adaptive swings. There’s also a wheelchair accessible ramp and features for those with sensory needs.

Crandall Park

Also located in Queensbury, Crandall Park features a large playground with a variety of swings, slides and climbing equipment. There’s also a splash pad open daily from 11am to 7pm during the summer months, as well as a baseball field and tennis, basketball and pickleball courts. Parking and public restrooms are located nearby.
