About the Warren County Bikeway

Guests staying in our private vacation home rentals in the Lake George Region have access to the scenic Warren County Bikeway. Loved by locals and visitors alike, the approximately 9.5-mile paved bike path connects the Village of Lake George with the City of Glens Falls, and takes riders over rolling hills, through a canopy of trees, and past unique historic sites.

Trailhead & Parking

The Warren County Bikeway starts at the southern tip of Lake George on Beach Road, between the steamboat docks and Million Dollar Beach. You’ll see the entrance at Battlefield Park, directly across from the lake.

During the summer season, parking is available at Million Dollar Beach for $10 per car, or the metered parking along West Brook Road. Another lot on Beach Road, located across from the steamboat docks, and between Around the World Mini Golf and the Fort William Henry, offers parking for $2 per hour. In late fall, through the winter and early spring, the meters are covered with hoods, pay-and-display kiosks are removed, and parking on the street and in public lots is free.

Guests staying at our vacation home rentals on Glen Lake can also access the trail where it crosses Glen Lake Road. However, there is no parking available in the area.

About the Trail

Generally considered an easy trail, the Warren County Bikeway is ideal for cyclists of all ability levels, from families with younger children to recreational riders and athletes. It’s also popular with walkers, runners and rollerbladers. However, dogs and motorized vehicles are not permitted.

While the trail is paved and mostly flat, be prepared for a couple of easy climbs. You’ll pass over the Route 149 bridge near the Lake George Factory Outlets, and another bridge that crosses a small inlet of Glen Lake. There’s also a 1.5-mile stretch that takes riders off path, along suburban streets, and past the Glens Falls Country Club, before reconnecting with the path. A final bridge allows riders to safely cross Quaker Road in Queensbury, shortly before arriving in Glens Falls.

Points of Interest & Things to Do

The Warren County Bikeway features more than 20 informational signs with photos and graphics documenting the Region’s ties to the French and Indian War and the old Delaware & Hudson Railroad line on which the bikeway was built. There are also picnic tables, benches and scenic spots to take a break along the way, and Sprinkles ice cream shop is visible just off the path in Queensbury.

The trail ends on Platt Street in downtown Glens Falls, where riders will find a delightful collection of restaurants, breweries, and shopping. The City of Glens Falls is also home to the Charles R. Wood theater, the Park Theater, the Cool Insuring Arena, and The Hyde Art Museum.
