Spotlight on Painted Pony Championship Rodeo in Lake Luzerne

Offering family-friendly entertainment and southern-style barbecue all summer long, the Painted Pony Championship Rodeo is one of the top attractions in the Lake George area. Enjoy all the classic Western Rodeo events, including bull riding, roping, steer wrestling, breakaway racing, bronc riding and barrel racing, as well as rodeo clowns and other performers.

Kick off the evening with a BBQ Dinner and drinks at the Longhorn Saloon, then head over to the Rodeo Arena for all the action. And don’t forget to stop by Graham’s Trading Post for a souvenir.

Rodeo Schedule

The rodeo is held rain or shine every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night, as well as Thursday afternoons from the end of June through Labor Day.

The Southern-style BBQ Dinner is served from 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night, and the Rodeo begins at 7:30 PM. On Thursday afternoons, the BBQ Dinner is served from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, and the Rodeo starts at 2:00 PM.

The rodeo is approximately 2 hours long.

Rodeo Tickets

Tickets can be purchased at the gate, but are available for a discounted price if purchased in advance online or at Bon’s Ice Cream in Lake Luzerne. Prices for the 2024 Rodeo Season are as follows:

  • Rodeo Only: Adult $22 in advance, $24 at the gate. Child $14 in advance, $16 at the gate.
  • BBQ Only: Adult $22 in avdance. Child $12 at the gate.
  • BBQ & Rodeo: Adult $42 in advance, $44 at the gate. Child $24 in advance, $26 at the gate.

Child tickets are for children 4-12 years old. Children 3 and under are free. Please note, there is also a parking fee of $5.

Rodeo BBQ

The Painted Pony’s barbecue pitmasters have spent years perfecting their recipes, and it shows. Enjoy mouthwatering BBQ, slow-cooked in smoke pits from dawn until dark, delivering tender, smoky goodness in every bite. The BBQ Dinner is served in the covered pavilion next to the Longhorn Saloon.

  • Adult BBQ Dinner includes your choice of Smoked BBQ Chicken, Pulled Pork or the Chicken & Pulled Pork Combo with two sides: Potato Salad, Western Baked Beans, Mac & Cheese, Grandma’s Cole Slaw.
  • Child BBQ Dinner (12 and under) includes your choice of BBQ Chicken, Pulled Pork or Two Hot Dogs with two sides: Potato Salad, Western Baked Beans, Mac & Cheese, Grandma’s Cole Slaw.

Each meal also includes Ranch Rolls with Butter, Pickles, Chips and Dessert, as well as Lemonade, Sweetened and Unsweetened Iced Tea, and water. A full cash bar is available in the Longhorn Saloon.

There are also food and drink concessions available inside the Rodeo Arena.

Rodeo Location

The Painted Pony Championship Rodeo grounds are located at 703 Howe Road in Lake Luzerne, NY. Easily accessible from Exit 21 of I-87 or via Route 9N, the Painted Pony is approximately 15 minutes from Lake George Village, 15 minutes from Glen Lake and 30 minutes from Hadlock Lake. You’ll also find several stables in the area for horseback riding, including Ruggiero’s and Mountain View Rocking B Ranch.
